A local food vendor called us one morning, scared to leave his home after ICE detained a woman nearby. He asked if we can purchase something from him as we’ve done in the past. Instead of just purchasing food from him, I asked if my team and I could go sell for him that day. He agreed, and we ended up selling out $350 worth of food and gave him additional funds from the donations we’d collected prior. It was a small act of solidarity that showed how care can look like action, not just words.
